Xavier and 1N5 “X OUT STIGMA” for Benefit Basketball Game

On Friday, January 25, 2019, Xavier University’s Women’s Basketball Team vowed to “X OUT STIGMA” as they partnered with 1N5 to reduce the stigma on mental health and suicide on their home court. In order to create lasting awareness on campus, the first 750 attendees received an “X OUT STIGMA” t-shirt. In addition to shirts, 1N5 raffled off courtside tickets to a XU Men’s Basketball Game and hosted a Split-the-Pot fundraiser.

The game against No. 15 Marquette ended in a loss for the Muskies, but XU never gave up, and we will never give up fighting for awareness, education and empathy towards mental illness and suicide.

We were excited about the opportunity to reach out to Xavier University students, fans and the Cincinnati community to raise awareness about mental health. Approximately 20% of youth and young adults are living with a diagnosable mental illness. The more we can work together to educate our community and reduce stigma, the more individuals who are suffering in silence will seek the help they need.

1N5 would like to extend our gratitude to Xavier University Athletics and the Women’s Basketball Team for their participation and involvement in helping turn our mission into a reality.
