On Sunday, May 5, 2019 at a Community Education Day sponsored by the Lindner Center of Hope, we had the pleasure of hearing Kevin Hines speak about his struggle with mental health which included his story of surviving a suicide attempt by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. Kevin’s gift of humor infused his difficult story and captivated the 440 people in attendance.
In addition to Kevin’s talk, there were also breakout sessions addressing various mental health challenges including time for the teens in attendance to meet and speak with Kevin. We were able to share our mission and message in between sessions and the gratitude expressed by many of the people who stopped by our table was humbling. It is encouraging to know we are making a difference in the community and beyond.
