1N5 was out and about spreading our message in the community with multiple events in the Greater Cincinnati area. We began the day at the Forest Hills 5K where we had a booth along the track for participants to visit and learn about 1N5 and the work we do to educate our youth about mental wellness and how we work to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. It was a beautiful morning and more than 2,000 runners/walkers and 200 volunteers had the chance to stop by and hear our mission. We also distributed our #IAM1N5 stickers and bracelets along with flyers about Mental Health, Stress and Mindfulness to spread awareness.
Immediately following the 5K, we headed to J.McLaughlin, in Hyde Park, where they hosted a Sip & Shop event with a percentage of all proceeds going to 1N5. We were pleased to see lots of people shopping for moms (and themselves!). It was a successful event and in addition to the generous donation, it was an excellent opportunity to share our mission with the patrons.
In the evening, we dodged the rain, for the most part, at the Florence Freedom game, as they hosted the Joliet Slammers. Not only did the home team walk away with a win (2-1), those in attendance were treated to a concert by Bronson Arroyo, former pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds. This was a perfect bookend to an awesome day filled with community outreach, support, education, and awareness.
