EVENT SHINES LIGHT ON MENTAL HEALTH

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A special event Saturday shines a light on mental health, and a local author highlights the list of guests. Jasmine Warga wrote a book that’s already been optioned as a movie by Paramount Pictures. It’s called “My Heart and Other Black Holes.” It’s about two high school students who meet online and connect through their own personal experiences struggling with mental health. She says she drew on her own battle with depression to make the characters real and relatable. “Depression is as serious as any illness that presents physically, and we should treat it as such. And even though it is a very real and serious illness, it doesn’t have to be a terminal one,” said Warga.

The event is called 1N5, and it’s Saturday at 6:30 p.m. University of Cincinnati president, Santa Ono will also speak. Jen Dalton is also set to emcee.
