This week for #freeyourmindfriday, Meghan Schafer, a psychotherapist specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), took over our Insta stories to talk about mental health and therapy. Check out her bio below!
My name is Meghan Schafer, and I am a daughter, sister, friend, and licensed psychotherapist living in Los Angeles. I grew up in Colorado and Nebraska, spending nearly all of my time outdoors connecting with others or enjoying time to myself. Being in nature has become the center of my healing and in my practice, I encourage everyone to slow down, get outside, and look outside of themselves through service and gratitude.
I have always been passionate about creating and holding space for others to safely express themselves, beginning when I was very young and ultimately becoming my career and life journey. I practice Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and use this modality to teach concrete, tangible tools to help others to manage their distress while also exploring their past and present to unearth patterns or cycles that might be holding them back. I absolutely love listening to each person’s unique story, providing a space for them to be both seen and heard, and building a relationship with them as they grow. I feel so honored to get to spend the day with you all and would love to learn more about each of you!
