Student Mental Health Advocate Takes Over Insta Stories

This week for #freeyourmindfriday, Diya, an incoming freshman at UC and mental health advocate, took over our Instagram stories to talk about dealing with burnout and depression. Check out her bio below!
Diya is 18 years old and an incoming freshman at the University of Cincinnati. She is excited to be majoring in Medical Sciences and minoring in Psychology. Diya struggled with depression in her senior year of high school and has coped with it through running, baking and talking to friends. After dealing with mental health struggles for a few months, she began to lose weight which had a detrimental effect on her wellbeing. She is very invested in erasing the stigma surrounding mental health, so she’s a part of the Youth Council on Suicide Prevention and has participated in 1N5’s Youth Mental Health Innovation Challenge. In her Instagram takeover, Diya will talk about battling burnout and depression as a high school student and during the pandemic. She will share tips on how to take a step back from a busy life to focus on yourself, especially during this unprecedented time.
