Two-Part Takeover Kicks Off Race Week

To kick off this year’s Warrior Run Virtual Race Week, we had a super special two-part takeover for #freeyourmindfriday! Brooke Kelly and Emma Benz took over our Insta stories to talk about mental health and what the Warrior Run means to them. Check out their bios below!

Brooke’s story: The Warrior Run each year marks another year I have stayed healthy and my strength has grown! It is a time for me to reflect on my progress during the past year, as well as to recommit my energy to managing my mental health as a top priority. I love the atmosphere of the Warrior Run and enjoy bringing together my family and friends on the day to start the conversation and end the stigma! I also love to compete with my personal times to see if I can run faster than the year before!! This day is always filled with joy and a sense of pride for me! I look forward to the Warrior Run year after year!

Emma’s story: I’m participating in the 1N5 Warrior Run to celebrate my recovery and to show support for those who continue to battle with any form of mental illness. In previous years, my eating disorder would not allow me to enjoy running as it was more of a compulsion than a fun activity. While I don’t run much anymore just out of personal preference, it’s on occasions like the Warrior Run that I’ll break out my running shoes again. But this time, it’s all for fun and a good cause (and the pregame pasta too. I can’t forget to mention the pasta 😜)
