You Can, Even When It Feels Like You Can’t

I remember growing up, one of the books I loved was, “The Little Engine That Could”. The Engine repeats over and over, “I think I can, I think I can” until it could.

I hope you remember today that you can. I hope you find even the smallest amount of light within you that empowers you to know that you can. You can push through, you can endure, you do have strength, you are worthy, you can make it through this challenging time.

Sometimes we need a push from others to remember that we can do what we want in this world, or that we can reach our goals, or that we are capable and worthy. So please take this as your push. I know it’s hard, I know the weight of the world feels so heavy. I know you may be disappointed, tired, let down and your will to keep fighting may be low. But keep fighting anyway. Keep showing up anyway. The moment you tell yourself you can’t, your body and mind believe it.

So choose to tell yourself that you can. That you can move forward despite the odds, that you can live a life you dreamed.

Watching my mom these last few weeks since the stage 4 diagnosis has been the hardest task of my life. To see someone you love hurting and broken shatters your heart into a million pieces. Sometimes I feel like I can’t go on. But I can. And I do. Sometimes I feel like I can’t be there for her. But I can. And I do.

Sometimes she feels like she can’t keep going. But she can. And she does.

Sometimes you feel like you have nothing left in you. Like you can’t do this anymore. But you can. And you do.

Keep fighting. Your story isn’t over. You can still create the life you wanted. You can.

So I leave you with these words I have been telling my mom to remind her and myself that we can.

You are strong.
You are brave.
You are worthy.
You can, even when it feels like you can’t.

Xo,
