Cheers to 2 Years!

I can’t believe that this month I am celebrating 2 years since I started this journey of sharing my story and a whole year since I left my full-time job to pursue my speaking career.

A lot has changed since I first started this journey. I had no idea that a small blog launch event would lead me to be where I am today. I never thought I would be sharing parts of my story every Monday consistently, or that I would be traveling the country to empower others. At times it got overwhelming, especially when I was traveling constantly and sometimes felt like I had no time for myself or others. And other times it has felt exhausting, especially during times like now when everything has gone virtual. But it’s always exciting for me to give a presentation because it’s always about that one person that I can help. That one person who decides to do something for their mental health, because they heard my story. That one parent who messages me months later telling me how much I impacted their child’s life. That is what keeps me going.

I have a lot to celebrate and a lot to be thankful for. I am living a life that was once a dream. Sure, COVID has changed a lot of things for me, but I still remain grounded and thankful in all that has been given to me.

When I say that your voice has power, I mean it. Your voice has power not only to help you to begin your healing journey for the hurt you have been through, but it has power to help other people, to change the world as we know it, to make the place we live in, a better and more beautiful place. You have that power. Even when you think you don’t. You do. You can do anything and everything you put your mind to. It takes a lot of hard work, but nothing is impossible if you believe in yourself. I will always challenge you to take that first, scary step because behind the door of unknowns, could be a life better than you dreamed of. But you have to take that first step, and once I took that step, I never looked back.

I used to ask the universe why all of these bad things were happening to me. I asked why I was struggling and why I had this toxic person or this toxic situation. I kept asking, “why me?” until I realized I should be asking why is this happening for me, and not to me. Everything I went through, has happened for me to help others, for me to find my voice to empower others to find theirs, for me to continually be reminded that healing and recovery, although not linear, is possible. Everything you have gone through is happening for you. For you to grow. For you to blossom. For you to make a difference in this world.

Take that first step and ask yourself, how can I turn my pain into passion? How can I turn my passion into my life’s work? And then never look back.

Cheers to 2 years and to many, many more. I couldn’t do it without your support, so thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Xo,
