Children’s Mental Health Advocate, Julia Paxton, Takes Over Our Insta

We were so excited to have Julia Paxton, who’s been featured on the Today Show, take over our insta stories this week. See a small piece of her story below.

I am a social work student at Ohio State University and a patient advocate with Nationwide Children’s Hospital. I have struggled with mental illness from a very young age, and I reached a breaking point during my senior year of high school. I was hospitalized a couple of times for suicidal ideation and received treatment for months after that.  Therapy has saved my life countless times and I now am living in remission and freedom.

I became passionate about sharing my story once and I made it to the other side. I want people who are struggling to know that it is possible to get better and find freedom. I plan on working in behavioral health with children, specifically in a crisis or inpatient setting when I graduate. My life has become a relentless movement forward and a dedication to being the hopeful.
