Others May Not Believe in Your Dreams, Keep Believing in Yourself Anyway

I can still get discouraged easily. It’s hard when you have poured your whole heart and effort into a project, and for people to question it or tell you no. This may seem similar to you. You may have a dream or goal that people tell you that you can’t reach. They may not believe in you, and that makes you question if you should believe in you too.

I’ve been struggling a lot lately. I know a lot of it is because I am so busy. But the other huge piece is the trauma from dealing with everything with my mom’s health. The pain of the unknown after living this way for a year and a half is exhausting and I know it is taking its toll on me. So in turn, it has felt a lot easier for me to stop believing in myself too.

But then I remember my journey. I looked back and remembered all of those days that I spent hours practically begging for presentations and begging to show the impact I could make. At first, almost everyone said no or just ignored me. It took a lot of time to build my business to where it is now. It’s been 3 years and just in the last year, I am getting my name out there as a speaker.

When you have a dream or a goal, it takes time. Everyone that you look up to and admire, started somewhere. They started with only their friends and family watching and believing, until someone else did, and then another person, and then they began reaching their version of success. Success looks different for everyone and looks different at every moment. You are successful for even trying. You are successful for even having that dream or that goal. You are successful because you get up every day and keep going.

You may not have reached your full version of success, but you are still doing something remarkable. Know that it will take time to get to where you want to be, and even when you get there, you will want something else. I dreamed about the day when I could have my own business and make enough money to support myself, and yet I often take that for granted and now get down on myself about another dream that isn’t unfolding entirely. But it takes time.

Be patient on the journey and grateful for what you do have. Be grateful for your growth and for all that you are doing today that one day was just a dream you had, a dream that maybe felt light-years away, and yet you are living it.

People will say no to your dreams, people may not believe in your dreams. Keep dreaming anyway. Keep believing in yourself anyway.

One day you will look back and be proud of yourself that you kept going and kept working towards that dream.
