Hi everyone! My name is Janelle Nixon & I look forward to connecting with you all! I used to envy those people who knew exactly what they wanted to do when they got older. I really had no clue what I wanted to do until I was told about social work in my second year of community college. It felt so natural for me to be drawn to it. After all, I really enjoyed being the person that my loved ones could lean on and vent to.
Fast forward to the present day, I will be graduating in less than one month (YAY!) with my Masters in Social Work from Arizona State University. I have accepted a position working as a therapist at @empoweringyoutherapy after graduation. I am so passionate about fighting to end the stigma placed on mental illness. I am so excited to begin this journey and provide a safe space for my clients to talk about mental health.
It is okay to not be okay, and the more we share our experiences with others, the less stigmatized talking about mental health will become!
