The Youth Council for Suicide Prevention is a diverse group of student leaders from local high schools who are committed to improving the mental health and well-being of all young individuals in Cincinnati and beyond.

Vision – We envision a community that nurtures emotional well-being, fosters resilience, and prioritizes mental health support for all young individuals. We are committed to breaking down barriers, eradicating stigma, and creating a safe, inclusive environment where open conversations about mental health are the norm.
Mission – To eliminate the stigma around mental health and prevent suicide by cultivating a safe space for students to engage in initiatives that create tangible change in their schools and communities, develop positive connections with each other, and practice self-care.
History – The Youth Council for Suicide Prevention (YCSP) was founded in 2013 by the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center to address the need for continued attention to suicide prevention in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since then, approximately 500+ youth have served on the council. In 2018, the YCSP began working in conjunction with 1N5.
In previous years, the YCSP has worked on many impactful initiatives such as conducting their own research, hosting a gala,  facilitating community education events, and developing newsletters, presentations, and social media content around mental health.

The YCSP values the youth voice and aims to empower participants to use their voices to change the landscape of how mental health is addressed.
